Climate
Sarawak enjoys a tropical climate with average temperatures ranging between 25°C to 32°C. The rainy season is between November and February, bringing heavier rain and cooler evenings. However, you can visit Annah Rais at any time of the year.

Language
While Malay is the national language of Malaysia, English is widely spoken throughout the state of Sarawak. You'll have no trouble communicating with the locals during your visit.

Religion
Sarawak is home to a diverse population of different races and beliefs, living together in peace and harmony. As a result, it is common to see mosques, churches, and temples located in close proximity to each other. Some notable religious structures in Kuching include the Masjid Jamek mosque in Petra Jaya, St. Thomas and St. Joseph's cathedrals in the city centre, and the Tua Pek Kong temple on the waterfront. Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and Taoist temples can also be found in and around the city.

Time Difference
Malaysia operates in a single time zone and is 8 hours ahead of GMT. This means it is 8 hours ahead of London (GMT) and 7 hours ahead during daylight saving time in the spring and summer. It is 13 hours ahead of New York (Eastern Standard Time) and 12 hours ahead during daylight saving time in the summer.

Electricity
The electricity supply in Sarawak is 220/240 volts at 50 hertz. The electrical plugs and sockets used are similar to those in Britain. If you're travelling from North America, you'll need adaptors, which are readily available at major hotels.

Banking and Currency
The exchange rate is approximately USD 1 = MYR 4.65 (please check the current rate).

The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) is available in various denominations of notes, ranging from RM1 to RM100, and coins in 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, and 50 cents. Most establishments accept major credit cards, and ATMs are readily available. However, please note that not all ATMs operate 24 hours, and some convenience stores and coffee shops only accept cash. Banks and licensed money changers can easily exchange your currency.

Immigration Requirements
Visitors to Sarawak are required to complete an immigration form upon arrival. Malaysia has strict anti-drug trafficking laws, and smuggling illegal drugs is a serious offence that carries a mandatory death penalty. To enter the country, every person must possess a valid passport or internationally recognised travel document. Visitors can also obtain a Document in Lieu of a Passport from a Malaysian Representative Office abroad for entry purposes.

Visa Requirement
Foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia must apply for and obtain a visa in advance at a Malaysian Representative Office before arriving in the country. A visa is an endorsement in a passport or other recognised travel document indicating that the holder has applied for permission to enter Malaysia and that permission has been granted. However, please note that the final decision lies with the Immigration Officer at the entry point.

Arrival/Departure Card (IMM.26)
Upon arrival at the designated entry points, visitors are required to complete the Arrival/Departure Card (IMM.26). You can obtain this card at any entry point, Malaysian Representative offices abroad, or travel agencies. Ensure that your passport or travel document is endorsed with the appropriate pass by the Immigration officer before leaving the immigration counter.
